March 26, 2025: ICHRRF calls to end religious persecution of Christians in Syria

The fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government in December 2024, supported by the United States through funding and provision of arms to rebels, unintentionally led to a jihadist takeover of Syria.

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) is an al-Qaeda faction led by Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, initially established under the name Jabhat al-Nusra. Abu Mohammed al-Jolani is effectively Syria’s interim president. Reports suggest he has tried to distance himself from his al-Qaeda past.

However, current reports confirm deliberate ethnic cleansing indicating that Churches are being burned, priests are being executed, women are being forced into Islamic dress, and Christians are being slaughtered in Syria.

None of this is being reported widely on international media outlets and the silence speaks volumes.

Christians deserve to live peacefully and practice their faith freely without fear of being massacred. ICHRRF calls to end the slaughtering of Christians in Syria.
